LED Panels
What are the advantages of LED panels?
LED panels have many advantages, which become particularly clear in comparison with conventional light sources. As a rule, they replace fluorescent tubes, but you can also easily replace any other type of ceiling lamp or ceiling spotlight with them.
If you compare LED panels with fluorescent tubes, it quickly becomes clear that they are much more efficient. One reason for this is that they consume significantly less electricity. So you can save up to 70 % on energy costs. On the other hand, they have a longer life and are not as susceptible to defects. Replacement and maintenance costs are thus reduced. This is not only good for your wallet, but also for the environment. LED panels also contain no toxic gases and can be recycled.
Another advantage is that they diffuse light and do not emit it in a targeted manner. This creates indirect lighting that does not dazzle those around it and is perfect for the ambient lighting of a room or area. In an office, for example, this is mandatory: the UGR value of lamps and luminaires here must not exceed 19. LED panels meet this requirement.
Installation is simple, especially in grid ceilings: simply replace one of the panels with an LED panel of the right size. We offer panels in all common sizes, including: 60x60 cm and 30x120 cm.
If you do not have a grid ceiling, this is not a problem: Using the appropriate accessories, you can easily attach our LED panels directly to the ceiling or even hang them.
Another advantage: LED panels are also available in Smart Lighting versions. This ranges from DALI products to individual luminaires that you can control directly via smartphone or tablet and then even create individual lighting plans.
All advantages at a glance:
- Low power consumption
- Lower replacement and maintenance costs
- LED panels contain no toxic materials
- LEDs are recyclable
- UGR <19
- Easy to install
Why are LED panels particularly suitable for offices?
LED panels are best suited for offices because of several points: As described above, they can be easily installed in grid ceilings. This not only makes installation particularly smooth, it also creates a very even ceiling appearance because the luminaires fit in perfectly. Thanks to their high luminous flux, they also emit enough lumens to guarantee good ambient lighting in the office.
Another particularly attractive feature of this type of luminaire is its UGR value. This is usually below 19, which is why people cannot feel dazzled by the light source. This is because the panels do not emit their light in a targeted manner but diffusely.
LED panels are also ideal for the office in terms of colour temperature. They are mainly available in the light colours cool white (4,000 K) and daylight white (6,500 K). These support the concentration and attention of employees and ensure that even the smallest details become visible. Luminaires specially designed for office use can be found in our category: office lighting.
What colour temperatures do LED panels have?
LED panels are available in different colour temperatures: daylight white (6,500 K), cool white (4,000 K) and warm white (3,000 K). The former two are particularly suitable for use in offices or public facilities as well as in the healthcare sector. They support attention and show details that would be swallowed up in a warm white light colour.
Warm white, on the other hand, is used especially where a cosy and relaxed atmosphere is required. Areas of application here would be, for example, hotels, the catering trade but also one's own living room. Warm white light stimulates the body to relax and thus creates a pleasant atmosphere.
Are there dimmable LED panels?
Yes, many of our LED panels are dimmable. Here, we mainly sell DALI products. The abbreviation stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface and means that such luminaires can be controlled and dimmed both individually and in groups. In addition, you can set up your own lighting system, which then operates completely automatically. This means that you no longer have to do anything yourself. Dimming also saves you energy costs: the fewer lumens a luminaire emits, the less electricity it consumes. You will find all dimmable LED panels in our category.
In which dimensions are LED panels available?
You can find LED panels in all kinds of dimensions. The most common are 60x60 cm and 120x30 cm. You can search for other sizes using the filter to the left of the products.
How are LED panels mounted in the ceiling?
You have several options for mounting an LED panel in the ceiling. The simplest is to install it in a grid ceiling. Here you can simply remove one of the ceiling tiles and insert the LED panel.
It is also possible to mount the LED luminaire directly on a standard ceiling. For this, you usually need a suitable accessory. In many cases, this is a frame that you mount on the ceiling. You can then insert the LED panel into it.
With the appropriate accessories, you can fix the LED panel to the ceiling.
Another way of mounting is to hang the LED panel. There are also suitable accessories for this in our shop. These include ropes and carabiners that you first mount on the ceiling. Then you can simply hang it from the ceiling.
You can also hang LED panels from the ceiling using a suspension kit.
What is the difference between surface-mounted and recessed LED panels?
The difference between surface-mounted and recessed LED panels is quickly explained: surface-mounted panels are attached directly to the ceiling. We label these with the information "surface mounting", which you can also filter by in our shop.
Recessed panels, on the other hand, are designed to be recessed into the ceiling. This is particularly suitable for grid ceilings, as here you simply have to replace a ceiling panel with the LED panel. Most of our products are recessed panels. However, with the appropriate accessories, you can also mount them directly on the ceiling or hang them below the ceiling.
What do you have to consider when buying LED panels for bathrooms or wet rooms?
If you want to install an LED panel in the bathroom or in a wet room, you have to pay attention to the IP protection class of the respective product. This always consists of two numbers. The first indicates how well the luminaire is protected against the penetration of solid objects (such as dust). The second indicates the protection against water and steam.
As a basic rule, you can remember: LED luminaires with an IP44 protection class are protected against water splashes on all sides. You can therefore use them well in the bathroom. Products with a protection class of IP65, on the other hand, are completely dustproof and protected against strong jets of water. If you want to install your LED panel in a room where it is likely to come into contact with water or even be cleaned with it, you should choose products with this IP protection class.
